9 out of 14 ambulances out of order at CHK

KARACHI:As many as nine ambulances of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi have gone out of order for several months and no attempt has been made by the hospital administration to get them repaired, sources in the CHK told on Saturday.

They informed that there are d 14 ambulances in the hospital to facilitate patients and out of them nine are out of order due to minor or major problems. They said that now only five ambulances are being used for transportation of patients and staff.

Sources said these operational ambulances also require maintenance on urgent basis. They further informed that nine ambulances including two- Mercedes, four high–roof van, one Toyota ambulance and two others are parked in the hospital as they are not road-fit.

Attendants of patients face immense problems in shifting their seriously ill patients from Civil Hospital Karachi to other hospitals of the city due to absence of ambulances. Although funds are available for the repair of ambulances but no attempt has been made to get repair these out of order vehicles.

Additional Medical Superintendent (AMS), Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Rubina Bashir, while talking to PPI, said list of out of order ambulances is being prepared to get repaired these vehicles and all repairable ambulances would be made operational soon.
