Beggars in Larkana create problems for residents

LARKANA:Beggars have become very active these days in Larkana who can be seen at bus stops, railway stations, bazaars, hotels, shops and in front of mosques but there seems to be nobody to control them, prevent them or to confine them to some localities due to which residents are facing hardships.

Approximately, one lakh men, women and children beggars are living in Larkana and are involved in beggary. Most affected areas here are Resham Gali, Bunder Road, Bank Square, Gajanpur chowk, Jelus bazaar, Royal Road, Empire Road, and Lahori Muhalla. They stick to their demand that people should pay them before leaving the place or spot.

Young girls are also seen on the roads begging from each person who in return pay them from Rs 1 to Rs 10 but this has also created other problems including sexual abuse but it is irony that nobody has taken any notice of this menace. Beggars have also arrived here from other districts and provinces and they have established their tent houses in various localities which are not hidden from the local police but they have never taken any action against then nor they have checked them.

The people have seen bikes, chingchies, buffaloes, goats and other valuables including mobiles outside their tents but since they are habitual of begging, therefore, they hide under poverty while living and passing substandard life. No doubt worst poverty has forced poor to come out on roads to beg but their availability in large numbers also raise many questions which need to be addressed by the cops. Residents have demanded actions against outsiders who are hiding under beggary.
