Call to end torture on women

KARACHI: On the eve of International Women’s Day, South Asian Women’s Protection Association Chairman Shumyla Naureen advocate said Wednesday that the new wave of torture on women throughout the world is matter of great concern.

“The torture on women in Syria, Myanmar and Kashmir is horrible and very sad to say that the UNO has failed to take any appropriate action in this regard,” she said in a statement.

In order to protect women’s rights and to eliminate torture trend in Pakistan, a women’s committee comprising doctors, social workers, and advocate should be formed and made responsible to deal with the government agencies and other Institutions so as to get quick results.

Naureen appealed to Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain to forgive all those innocent women who are in jails in Pakistan. She also appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan to decide women’s torture cases within three months.
