Call to retrieve grabbed land of Ayub Stadium

QUETTA: Haji Muhammad Ibrahim Khan Noorzai, President, Balochistan Darts Association (BDA), has said that sports men, women and young people must have access to places where they can develop their sporting potentials.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that instead of utilizing Ayub Stadium, Quetta, the only place of sports in Quetta for the development of players’ sporting potential, players of Quetta and its adjoining areas are even barred from entering the premises of Ayub Stadium, let alone allowing them to develop their sporting potentials.

Noorzai said that Ayub Stadium, Quetta appears derelict and rubbish is strewn all over, adding that many places of Ayub Stadium, Quetta have been encroached upon, but the authorities of Provincial Sports and Youth Affairs Department and Balochistan Sports Board, Quetta do nothing to retrieve the grabbed lands of Ayub Stadium, Quetta.

He said that different organizations, including Youth Development Centre, Physical College, FIFA, Department of Archives and Culture, Balochistan-WASA and Public Health Engineering Department, have occupied portions of Ayub Stadium, Quetta and constructed their own offices therein. He called on authorities to retrieve the grabbed land of Ayub Stadium, Quetta and the said single sport facility of the provincial capital be used for developing the sporting potentials of the players of Quetta city and its adjoining areas.
