KARACHI:A female student of Dow Medical University succumbed to her injuries at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in the wee hours of Saturday.
Nimrah aged 21 daughter of Ajaz Baig sustained bullet injuries on Friday during an exchange of fire between the police and suspected robbers in the city’ North Karachi area.
According to police, two robbers Riaz Malik and his accomplice were fleeing after committing a robbery near North Karachi’s Anda Morr. A police team chased the fleeing robbers on which the robbers opened fire on police team. In retaliatory firing the robber Riaz Malik killed on the spot, while his accomplice injured.
However, during the shootout, a passing student, Nimrah was also sustained bullet injuries and rushed to the Jinnah postgraduate Medical Center for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police claim, the deceased girl was struck with a bullet fired by the robbers.
Talking to media SSP Central Arif Aslam Rao said police will find out who fired the bullet that killed Nimra. He told an impartial investigation will be conducted and the findings will be shared with the public. “We are waiting for the final post-mortem report and the forensic evidence from the crime scene, which we will examine along with the rounds collected from the scene”, the police official added.
JPMC Lady Dr Shakila said numerous x-rays and CT scan were done on the girl and said the bullet could not be found in the body.
She added due to a bone breaking in the Nimrah’s head she suffered head damage.
