KARACHI:An eight-year old girl was allegedly molested by her neighbor in Landhi area of the metropolis on Friday.
According to Sukhan, Station House Officer (SHO) Javid Ahmed Jalbani that the girl had gone to a neighbor’s home to play in Labour Square area, where an accused subjected her to sexual assault and fled.
SHO further said the victim’s mother works in a factory in the same area, while her father is currently in Punjab.
The police arrested the owner of the house where the incident took place for investigation.
The girl, meanwhile, was brought to the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre for medical examination.
The hospital’s Executive Director, Dr. Seemin Jamali, confirmed that the victim was subjected to rape.
The girl was later shifted to the National Institute of Child Health for treatment.
Meanwhile, taking notice of the alleged rape of the girl, the IGP Sindh AD Khowaja and Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal sought separate reports from DIG East in this regard.
They also instructed to ensure security to the affected family, look into the whole matter and investigate the case on merit.
