Glowing tribute paid to revolutionary poet Josh Malihabadi

RAWALPINDI:Josh Adabi Foundation and Josh Memorial Committee in collaboration with Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) organized a Literary Conference in the city to mark the 124th birth anniversary of the revolutionary poet, Josh Malihabadi.

Renowned scholar Dr Ghazanfer Mehdi presided over the conference while famous fiction writer Hameed Shahid was the chief guest.

Addressing on the occasion, Dr Ghazanfer Mehdi said that the poetry of Josh had a vital place in Urdu literature. It was need of the time to promote literary work of the revolutionary poet.

Hameed Shahid said Josh was a poet of nature and due to his revolutionary ideas, he became famous forever. More research work on his poetry should be initiated which was the need of time, he added.

Farrukh Jamal, the grandson of Josh Malihabadi, said that name of Josh would be prominent in Urdu till the end of this world. Tabbasum Ikhlaq, the granddaughter of Josh, also threw light on the life and work of Josh.

Later, a mehfil-e-mushaira was held in which poets Naseem-e-Sahar, Wafa Chisti, Hassan Abbas Raza, Maeed Malik, Arshad Malik, Abdul Qadir Tabban and others paid a glowing tribute to Josh through their poetry.
