KARACHI:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh said on Wednesday that they are thankful to the Pakistan Army that they took swift action, erected an embankment along M-9 Superhighway and saved Ahsanabad grid station from being inundated in flood water.
According to details, Haleem Adil, who is also PTI parliamentary leader in Sindh assembly, paid a detailed visit to urban-flood hit areas of M-9 Superhighway, cattle market, Shahbaz Goth, Wazeer Goth, Ahsanabad, Saadi Town and adjourning areas hit hard by torrential rainwater, reviewed the situation and also meet with the relief teams of Pak army.
Talking to media outside the grid station of Ahsanabad, he said that if the Pakistan army had not erected an embankment and saved this grid station, today half of the megacity Karachi would have gone deprived of electricity.
He said we were present here whole night. However, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah or his ministers including Saeed Ghani were not seen in this flooded area. He said the floodwater near Superhighway comes from the hills of nearby Balochistan and it is not related to rains in Karachi. He demanded a probe into construction of all dams of area that are built without any survey and proper designing. He said these dams were got constructed by some political leaders for their own farmlands, without getting done a survey and proper designing.
He said the people of whole Sindh including Karachi suffered because the government of Sindh failed to deliver during and after the heavy rains. He said because of the wall dividing the M-9, whole flood water did not target populated localities. He said despite the budget of Rs140billion the Sindh local government department failed to take precautionary measures for rains and flooding. He said during last 10 years huge funds of Rs7000billion were given to Sindh but no progress and prosperity is witnessed in the province.
He said different villages of PS-99 went inundated in Superhighway flood water. He said cattle market of Superhighway was also badly affected. He said 22 innocent people including children died of electrocution due to the negligence of Karachi Electric KE.
He said the PPP looted resources during last 10 years but did nothing for the people. He said many other towns in Sindh were also hit hard by the rains besides megacity Karachi. He said Hyderabad was also badly affected. He also demanded action against Hesco chief for their negligence.
He said the politics of PPP has already washed down the drain. He asked for revisiting the agreement of privatization of KESC. He said the KE did not even take action to save it grid station. He said Sindh was drowning in rainwater and Bilawal Zardari was holding meeting in air-conditioned room. He said after mega corruption of Muzafar Tappi and Nasir Shah the local government department is given to Saeed Ghani for its further destruction.
