LAHORE:Terming the announcement of increase in fair on metro buses unjustified and anti-public step of the government, Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Chief Dr Farid Paracha has demanded authorities take back the decision.
After increasing metro fare from Rs20 to Rs30 a few months back, the provincial government Wednesday announced another 10 rupees raise, Dr Paracha said, adding the step was tantamount to depriving thousands of poor commuters from a basic facility.
He said large numbers of people use metro buses to reach at their destinations where they earn livelihood, many take the facility to go to the hospitals and schools. But, he regretted, now they all burdened with 50 percent rise which was unfair. He said the government, if necessary, could raise the fare for stop-to-stop destination.
