JPMC doctors observe token strike

KARACHI: The doctors of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Thursday observed a two-hour strike to demand making a high-powered committee to decide fate of their hospital and meet other demands.

Professors, assistant professors, young doctors, medical officers and others under the banner of Joint Action Committee staged a protest demo at JPMC Najamuddin Auditorium after the end of their 48-hour deadline given to Sindh and federal governments.

The protesters carrying banners and placards marched from Najamuddin Auditorium to Surgical OPD.

They appealed the federal government, Sindh government and Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) to constitute high power committee to decide future of doctors and status of their institution after consultation all stakeholders.

They announced that protest demonstration from 9:00am and 11:00am will continue till meeting of their demands. The protest demonstration of doctors caused immense problems for visiting patients coming from different areas of Sindh and other parts of country for treatment.
