KARACHI: To control the prevalence of cancer, Karachi Cancer Registry (KCR) has launched to collect data of cancer patients and device a comprehensive strategy to reduce the cases.
These views shared by Patron of Karachi Cancer Registry Dr Huma Qureshi during a press conference held at Karachi Press Club here.
Prof Dr Tariq Siddiqui, Dr Shahid Pervez, Dr Adnan Jabbar and Prof Dr Asif Qureshi were also present.
Dr Huma Qureshi said oral and breast cancer cases are on the rise in the city due to consumption of tobacco products, life style, chewing betel nut and betel leaf, fast food, and junk items.
She informed that Karachi Cancer Registry is being launched to collect data of cancer patients from public and private sector health facilities of the city.
She said mouth cancer common in male while breast cancer common in females in the city. She said data collection of cancer patients have been started to devise a comprehensive strategy to control cancer spread in the city.
Experts demanded of the provincial government impose ban on sell of betel nut and betel nut, Mainpuri, Naswar, Gutka and other products to prevent citizens from cancer.
