LB minister sees all Sindh officials in NAB fear

LARKANA: Sindh Local Bodies Minister Saeed Ghani said on Sunday that no officer in Sindh can work independently due to fear of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) actions.

“NAB has targeted Sindh and its actions are only visible in Sindh not in other provinces,” he said while talking to newsmen in Garhi Khuda Bux where he went to offer his prayers at the mazar of Bhutto leaders today. He said NAB was misusing its powers in Sindh while its eyes were closed because it had done nothing against PTI as inquiries had been started against PPP leaders and arrests were made by issuing warrants, but PTI had been excluded from this process. He said no action had been taken in Punjab, KPK and Balochistan by NAB. He said NAB had double standards and they had serious reservations against it.

Ghani said: “We do not have any objection if NAB works within its framework. I am of the view that NAB is misusing its powers in Sindh. In some districts of Sindh, contingency sanitation employees were appointed and all these employees were removed on the directives of Water Commission judge.”

He said in some districts, those employees were 200, somewhere 300 and somewhere 400 employees, who were appointed to ensure cleanliness but due to their removal at a time, cleanliness issues had surfaced. “We will try to find out its solution keeping in view the decision of the Water Commission for which he added he had called on Monday (today) mayors of Larkana and Sukkur and Chairmen of both these divisions to Karachi.”

He said issue of payment of monthly salaries to LB employees was not in entire Sindh but in some districts which would soon be resolved. He confessed that payment to retired employees and pension issues also existed for which they were constituting a committee to resolve them.
