Mayor says no resources to resolve megacity issues

KARACHI:Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar on Saturday said they have no resources to resolve the civic issues of the megacity, Karachi.

Speaking at a ceremony at Liaquatabad Sarafa Market, he said we want to serve the city but lack financial resources. He, however, said the sewage problem in various Liaquatabad UCs has already been resolved and now road carpeting work will be carried out to facilitate residents.

The mayor said that laying of sewage line will facilitate 4200o residents of five union committees in Liaquatabad, adding sewage line and street carpeting work was done in six months with a cost of Rs40million.

He said a new sewage line will be laid from Dak Khana Liaquatabad to Liaquatabad No.10 besides street carpeting over 125000 square feet area.

He said we know the city problems but have no resources to solve them at once. He said the process of development works will continue as we want to serve people.

He said that DMC Central was removing garbage with its resources in Liaquatabad and situation has improved a lot now.
