KARACHI: KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Syed Saifur Rehman said Thursday that the veterinary department would submit a full report after conducting a survey of all poultry and meat shops in the city with rent received from KMC shops and also ensure implementation of health and hygiene directives in the slaughterhouses so as to ensure germs free meat.
He was chairing a meeting of various departmental heads of KMC in head office today. The commissioner directed that health certificate should be issued at the National Highway, Superhighway and RCD Highway for sacrificial animals brought to the city for sale.
He also directed departmental heads to start planting trees in the city with their staff. The meeting was attended by director technical SM Shakaib and other officers.
He said that no agreement should be made without consulting with the law department to avoid any difficulty afterwards. The commissioner said that action should be taken against illegal nurseries in different areas of the city.
