ISLAMABAD:According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, nearly 1 in 2 (47%) Pakistanis report that there is an adult in their house who does not know how to read the Quran.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Is there any adult in your house who cannot read the Quran?” In response to this question, 47% said yes, 42% said no, while 11% did not know or did not wish to respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1193 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 19 – November 26, 2018. The error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level.
