KARACHI:Sindh Government Children Hospital (SGCH) North Karachi’s management has decided to establish Pediatric Psychology Ward to address the psychological problems of children.
Chief Executive Officer of Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), SGCH, Dr Muhammad Taufiq, while talking to PPI, said the Pediatric Psychology Ward and OPD were being introduced in Sindh’s second largest pediatric care hospital soon. He informed that pediatric psychologist and other support staff had been hired to set up new ward.
He explained that pediatric psychology was a multidisciplinary field of both scientific research and clinical practice which attempted to address the psychological aspects of illness, injury, and the promotion of health behaviors in children.
He said Children Hospital would become first public sector hospital of Sindh where separate pediatric psychology ward was being established to cater to psychological problems of children. He further informed that Provincial Minister Health Sindh was likely inaugurate the new psychology ward in the hospital soon.
