Rs 3.5m approved to renovate DC Larkana Building

LARKANA:Deputy Commissioner, Larkana, Muhammad Noman Siddique on Monday clarified a news headlined ‘Larkana landmark under threat of demolition’ published in The Express Tribune on November 02, 2018. He said that the main building of District Council Larkana was built in 1927 under supervision of Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto and had turned ageing over the years.

The meeting hall of this council was dilapidated and in dangerous condition as declared by Sindh Building Control Authority, he added in his statement. It was identified and demanded by members of District Council and civil society as well to restore it to its original position.

“The rehabilitation and restoration cost to the tune of Rs 3.5 million has been approved by the council,” he said. There is no possibility of its demolition as District Government was keen in restoring this and other historical buildings to their original position and make them functional, DC concluded.
