Karachi: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday sought reply from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on applications of owners of M/s Rufi Builders seeking plea bargain in a graft case.
The apex court bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, was hearing the bail pleas of the builders at its Karachi registry.
During the hearing, the defence counsel said that they had already submitted for plea bargain with the NAB.
The court directed the NAB authorities to submit their comments in the next hearing scheduled for April 11.
According to NAB, two owners of Messrs Rufi Builders and Developers, Rauf Ahmed Rufi and Manzoor Ahmed Rufi, were booked in an investigation on charges of cheating public at large by denying possession of plots to 415 allottees who made their payments 17 years ago under their project Rufi Global City located on the main Superhighway.
They have been also charged with extorting amount of millions of rupees from the public by overbooking of plots on a land of 45 acres
