SHC expresses annoyance over police report on missing persons

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday expressed displeasure over no progress in recovery of missing persons and ordered the police to submit a report after recovery of missing persons in this regard by 28th November.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, was hearing a case regarding more than 100 missing persons. The bench expressed dissatisfaction on police over failure to recover the missing persons and said citizens have been disappearing for long time but police did not properly work for their recovery.

Court remarked that police do not have concern about the distressed families. We do not want listen anything just want recovery of the missing persons.

Bench also ordered the police and law enforcement agencies to apply modern devices to ensure recovery of missing persons. Now stereotype reports are not needed, it said.

The court said police should register the cases after recording the statements of families of missing persons.

The affected families told the court that investigation officers are being transferred every three months. The new investigation officers start investigation afresh and whereabouts of the missing persons are not traced out.

They stated that investigation officers, Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and taskforce give different statements. They appealed the honourable court to order the recovery the missing persons as soon as possible.
