KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday sought comments from Ministry of Petroleum and Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on a petition filed against the hike in petroleum products prices.
A division bench was hearing a petition filed by Advocate Shariq Khan assailing the federal government for increasing prices of petroleum products. The petitioner informed the judges that the Supreme Court in 2014 had directed the authorities concerned to fix petroleum prices as per the value in international market but OGRA had been increasing the prices in violation of its order.
Shariq said that recently, the petrol is being sold at Rs 88.07 per litre, kerosene oil at Rs 76.46, high speed diesel at Rs.98.45 and light diesel oil at Rs 65.30. These prices were too high in comparison with the prices in international market.
Issuing notices to OGRA and ministry of petroleum, the bench directed them to submit their respective replies by March 28.
