SHCC organizes Technical Advisory Committee meeting

KARACHI:The 3rd meeting of Technical Advisory Committee of Sindh Health Care Commission was held at Karachi where experts reviewed the registration process of healthcare establishments (HCEs) in Sindh province.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Pharmacy Council of Pakistan Dr AQ Javed Iqbal, representative of National Centre of Homoeopathic Consultants(NCHC) Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, Chairman, Consumer Association of Pakistan Kaukab Iqbal, ENT Surgeon and PMA Karachi Dr Shaukat Malik, Professor of Psychiatry at JPMC Iqbal Afridi, Dean Ziauddin University Dr Abbas Jaffar, focal Person National Council for Tibb Hakim M Ahmed, Additional Director DRAP Dr Najam and Member National Council for Tibb Sirajuddin.

In the meeting it was discussed to expedite the registration process by involving electronic media and other sister organizations. It was said that the complaint form needs to be easily available for the complainant. It was also discussed that one member from DRAP may be appointed as permanent member in inspection team of SHCC so as take immediate action if expired medicine or other expired devices be found in Pharmacies of HCEs.

On the other hand, Directorate of Anti-Quackery (SHCC) has sealed 49 clinics in Larkana being run by quacks and issued warning to 25 other clinics, while Director Anti-Quackery has also met with Secretary Health Sindh to devise future strategy to deal with current situation of spread of HIV cases in Larkana.

The Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation has received 128 new applications for registration and certificates were issued to 97 HCEs’ this week bringing total number of registration certificates issued to 4,511. The team also conducted inspection of Ziauddin Hospital Clifton and Dow Dental College Karachi last week.

Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training is going to hold meeting for Solid Waste Management next week.
