Sindh Healthcare Commission termed a good step to improve healthcare

KARACHI: Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Minhaj A Qidwai, along with Director Licensing & Accreditation Dr. Farhana Memon, held a meeting. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Qidwai said the purpose of setting up Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) is to improve the quality of healthcare services and ban quackery in the province of Sindh in all its forms and manifestations.

SHCC is an autonomous corporate body in Sindh to regulate healthcare services and ensure clinical governance. He also outlined the process of complaints to be received by commission and developing documents of patients, healthcare provider and healthcare establishment. Director Licensing & Accreditation Dr. Farhana Memon highlighted the registration process.

She informed that the registration & licensing from SHCC was mandatory for healthcare establishment and healthcare providers practicing in province Sindh, as per registration & licensing process. The registration forms are available at SHCC office as well as on website www.shcc.org.pk, and can be completed online. In this regard, three public notices from SHCC has been published in leading English Urdu Sindhi newspapers and after the given timeline, the unregistered HCE and HCP will considered as un authorized healthcare practitioners in Sindh province and action taking against them in pursuance of Section 14 of Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) Act 2013.

This meeting was attended by Director General Health Services Sindh Dr. Mohammad Akhlaque, and his team, Board of Commissioner of Sindh Healthcare Commission Dr. Abdul Sattar Memon, Director ICD, Dr. Abdul Wahid Wadho Medical Superintendent’s LUMS Hyderabad, all District Health Officers (DHO’s) Taluka Health Officers (THO’s), Medical Superintendent’s of DHQ’s and THQ’s of Sindh. The participants shared their experience in their field and ensured their corporation. The Director General Health (Hyderabad) Dr. Mohammad Akhlaque in his closing remarks assured the full corporation from Directorate of health Sindh in execution of SHCC Act 2013, a follow up meeting was planned as way forward.
