Sindh Police asked to devise election security plan

KARACHI:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja on Friday called for fool proof security plan for general elections 2018 in the province, to be held on 25th July 2018.

IGP issued directives to the Sindh police officers to  devise a contingency security plan comprising fool proof security arrangements regarding free and transparent general elections in province.

Khowaja directed hat after keeping in view all priorities of elections, implementation of ethics and honesty must be ensured besides cooperation with all political parties and taking in confidence heir leaders at every level for conduct of fair, transparent and impartial elections.

He instructed the Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) to strength contacts with Rangers and other law enforcement agencies. He said security duties on sensitive polling stations be made the part of election security plan, adding that security of polling staff, candidates and safe transfer of ballet papers be made the part of security plan.

He said that before the elections, all DIGs will pay visit to their related areas and polling stations and patrolling, snap-checking and other security arrangements would be ensured

Khowaja also instructed the concerned officials that the responsibilities of bomb disposal squad must be included in security plan and contact with special branch in this regard be ensured.

He said that deployment of police commandos at sensitive polling stations would be ensured. He said police flag marches will be held to instil a sense of protection sense in people of province.
