Karachi:Hyundai Xteer Lubricants performed brilliantly and hauled 12 points out of its seven matches to clinches Leisure Leagues Corporate League Season 2 title, which was played here at KUFF Football Ground.
Hyundai Xteer along with second placed ZIK Technologies also qualified for the prestigious Leisure Leagues Karachi Intra-City Championship.
Leisure Leagues has established an infrastructure where top performing teams from its different leagues and tournaments, held in their respective cities qualify, for intra-city leagues. The champion side of the intra-city leagues, which held in different cities of the country, qualify for leisure leagues national finals.
The winner of the national finals gets the opportunity to qualify from Pakistan to represent the country in the Socca World Cup, which saw its inaugural edition held in Portugal earlier this year. Lahore’s ICAW qualified for the mega event after going through the leisure leagues qualification process. It featured in the tournament against top football playing nations and also won the ‘Fair Play’ award.
Meanwhile, in its last league match, Hyundai Xteer recorded a convincing 4-0 victory against Benitoz Tiles – thanks to Fazal Muhammad, who scored a hat-trick. Asif Khan scored the fourth goal for the side. The team has previously been clinching formidable wins in the tournament. The team had also been the champion of the first season of the corporate league.
ZIK Technologies got a walkover against Daraz.pk team, which didn’t turn up on the occasion, which saw the former side jump to second position as it gave the side a 5-0 win. The entitlement of 5-0 win due to a walkover helped ZIK Technologies take second position on points table with eight points. Wonderworks and PSO teams, at third and fourth positions, also managed to secure eight points but ZIK Technologies left them behind on the basis of better goal difference.
Eight teams representing corporate entities featured in the tournament. The teams which featured in the tournament were PSO, Daraz.pk, Hyundai Xteer Lubricants, TPL Trakker, ZIK Technologies, MS Packages, Wonderworks and Benitoz Tiles.
