Sports: Football: Kevin Reeves leads Leisure Leagues trials in Lahore

Karachi:The second leg of the Leisure Leagues trials ahead of upcoming small-sided football Socca World Cup culminates as foreign coach Kevin Reeves conducts trials in Lahore after shortlisting players in Islamabad earlier this week.

Hailing from 24 cities of Punjab, more than 400 footballers descended on Model Town’s Fame Football Ground. After exhausting sessions, England born coach Reeves shortlisted 12 players.

Pakistan renowned footballers Kaleemullah, Essa Khan, Gohar Zaman and Saadullah were also present during the trials. Leisure Leagues is holding trials at four major cities of the country – Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Islamabad ahead of Socca World Cup, which will be held in Crete, Greece from October 12 to 20 this year. The third and leg of trials will be held in Quetta.

Reeves has already shortlisted players and would be doing so in Quetta and later in Karachi. Reeves was impressed by the talented footballers appeared during the trials and said that if these players are groomed well then Pakistan could have a strong side in near future.

Participating players were pleased Leisure Leagues and World Group for holding trials and giving opportunity for players to become a part of a great event that will end with a small-sided football Socca World.
