Karachi:Pakistan overpowered India 3-2 after a close contest in Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, which concluded in Tehran, Iran on Saturday.
The comprehensive scores were 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 15-6in favor of Pakistan, as the men in green secured seventh spot in the 16-team tournament.
Meanwhile, the seventh position has helped Pakistan secure its place in Olympics Qualification Tournament as top eight teams from the Asian event qualified for the Olympics pre-requisite. Top eight teams of Asia will play in China next January.
Earlier, Pakistan lost a close contest to Australia by 3-2 sets as the latter went on to qualify for the final.
Meanwhile, against India Aimal Khan and Mubashar Raza played brilliantly against traditional rivals India.
