KARACHI:Three more corneas were transplanted in the eyes of blind people in KMC’s Spencer Eye Hospital (SHE) with support of the Lions Club International, previous evening.

So far 17 people have got this facility in SHE since the time cornea transplantation was restored after a gap of fifteen years under the patronage of the mayor Karachi.

Earlier, the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhter received the donation of three corneas from LCP’s former Chairman Lion Abu Bakar Kareem, and extended gratitude for his generous contribution to help restore eye sights of poor patients. The corneas have been imported from Sri Lanka.

This may be noted that LCP has so far gifted 14 corneas (imported from Sri Lanka), this year. All tissues have been transplanted among blinds hailing from different parts of the country.

In private hospitals, transplantation will cost around Rs 150,000; however; the same transplantation facility is available in SEH free of cost.
