KARACHI:Sindh Health Department has confirmed two new cases of Coronavirus here on Tuesday, taking the confirmed cases’ number to 15 in Sindh province.
Media Coordinator to the Health Minister Meeran Yousuf, while talking to PPI, informed that the first new case is from Hyderabad. This patient arrived from Syria via Doha. She further said the second case is from Karachi and this patient arrived from Iran via Dubai.
She said Sindh health department is in the process of tracking all their contacts down for further testing.
This brings the total number of cases to 15 in Sindh out of them one has already been cured and discharged.
In 24 hours, Sindh Health Department has confirmed 11 new cases, of them seven patients came from Syria via Doha whereas the other three patients came from London via Dubai and one patient arrived from Iran via Dubai.
In Pakistan a total 18 Coronavirus patients have been reported out of them 15 were detected in Sindh, two in Baluchistan and one in Gilgit Baltistan, so far.
Earlier, Sindh’s Minister of Health and Population Welfare Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho chaired a internal department meeting decided that the Sindh Health Department will be setting up its own health desk and screening at the Karachi airport to screen all the patients coming to Karachi.
All private and public hospitals will be setting up a frontline desk for information on Corona Virus. An Advisory will be issued today to avoid large public gatherings and an Advisory will be issued today for people to self-quarantine for 14 days if they have recently come to Karachi from a country with positive cases.
It was further decided that Gadap Hospital has been prepared and set up as an isolation facility for all confirmed positive cases. SOPs have been provided to all private hospitals on how to deal with a positive Corona virus case. Shutting down schools for a longer duration has been suggested to the CM and it has also been suggested to the CM to put a ban on large public gatherings like PSL. However, later, Sindh health minister said that no decision is taken on extending school closure, or not holding cricket matches.
