Karachi: Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has called the comprehensive reports regarding the Public Parks and Gardens in Karachi from all 06 Deputy Commissioners of Karachi within 03 days, through Commissioner Karachi.
He issued these instructions while presiding a high level meeting in Sindh Secretariat on Thursday.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Mohammad Hussain Syed, Secretaries of Local Government, Culture and Coordination Departments, Commissioner Karachi Sualeh Farooqui, DG KDA M. Samee Siddiqui, all Deputy Commissioners of Karachi and other officers also attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary asked the Deputy Commissioners to continue the anti-encroachment campaigns to vacate the public places and state land from the encroachers. He categorically noted that there could be no compromise with the land grabbing and all irregularities.
The Deputy Commissioners briefed the meeting about the status of public parks available in their districts with the elucidation of their use, encroachment thereon and anti-encroachment process, thereof.
D.C. South Syed Salahuddin informed that out of 80 parks in South, 12 are being vacated as per rules and Government policy.
ADC East Afan Saleem reported on status of 126 Public Parks status in district East, DC Malir Abid Ali briefed on status of all 85 parks, and details of anti-encroachment operation.
DC Korangi Ms. Qurat ul Ain, stated that there are 176 parks in Korangi and 02 of them were encroached, which are now vacated.
Deputy Commissioners of West and Central also briefed the meeting regarding anti-encroachment campaigns, in their jurisdictions.
DG KDA, A. Samee Siddiqui briefed that operation of anti-encroachment has successfully been completed against 87 marriage halls. He also pointed out that few areas are yet be transferred to the KMC including parks in Clifton.
Commissioner Karachi Sualeh Farooqi informed the meeting that inter-institutional coordinated efforts are being made about the status of Public Parks in jurisdictions of KMC, KDA and other organizations.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Mohammad Hussain Syed assured the Chief Secretary that Board of Revenue shall continue cooperation with District/Divisional Administration, in the task of anti-encroachment operation.
Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, appreciated the services of various departments, and maintained that a comprehensive report from each district, regarding Parks and Garden, with their ownership, status whether running sufficiently or encroached, and action taken for vacation with the specification of area, duly verified by the Commissioner Karachi must be submitted to the Chief Secretary office within three working days latest by Tuesday 9th October 2018.
The Chief Secretary also advised the Sindh Police to extend cooperation to this effect. Earlier, Secretary Culture Ghulam Akbar Leghari made a presentation about various institutions including Burns Garden, Aram Bagh and National Museum.
