YDA boycotts OPD services in protest at JPMC

KARACHI: Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration and completely boycotted the duties at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) against registration of an FIR against a doctor and for acceptance of their demands.

The protest badly affected patient care at JPMC. The visiting and admitted patients had to suffer as the outpatient departments remained suspended due to the protest. A large number of patients, who came from Karachi and other parts of Sindh, faced trouble.

YDA chairman Dr Omer Sultan, while talking to PPI, said that a complete boycott was observed at JPMC. He said young doctors would continue the protest till withdrawal of the FIR, increase in health professional allowance, house rent & stipend, provision risk allowance & hardship area allowance to young doctors, and regularization of PPHI project and other contract doctors.

Executive Director, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Dr Seemin Jamali, while talking to PPI, said young doctors forcefully closed the OPDs which was against medical ethics. She said OPD services remained disturbed due to the protest.

She said that the trainee young doctors should avoid such practices which had brought a bad name to medical profession. She said that non professional attitude of young trainee doctors was not acceptable.
