10,300 grams of ketamine recovered in Karachi

Acting on the directives of Sindh’s Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the Sindh Narcotics Control Department has intensified its crackdown on drug smuggling networks. In a major operation at Korangi Crossing, officials seized 10,300 grams of ketamine and arrested two suspects linked to an inter-provincial smuggling gang.

According to a statement by Sindh Information Department today, during a press conference held at the office of the Director General Narcotics Control Sindh, Deputy Director Lakhmi Chand and District In-charge Korangi Sohail Abbas revealed that the confiscated ketamine is valued at over Rs10 million in the international market.

He said that a case has been registered against the arrested accused Zahid Iqbal son of Fazal Elahi and Zulfiqar son of Din Muhammad, while according to initial information, the accused belong to an inter-provincial gang involved in drug smuggling, who smuggle ketamine from Quetta to Karachi.

Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the gang. Raids are being conducted in multiple locations across the province.

In a separate operation last week, officials raided a private housing society on the Superhighway, uncovering a clandestine liquor manufacturing facility. A significant quantity of international liquor brands, empty bottles, lids, and production equipment were seized.
