(Dist): PTI leaders got FIR registered against Safdar: CM tells

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the PTI MPAs, under a preplanned conspiracy, brought a proclaimed offender to the police station and got him a fake FIR registered against Captain Safdar.

This he disclosed in a press conference here at CM House on Tuesday. He was flanked by his cabinet members. Shah said that the PML-N leaders, Ms Mariam Nawaz, Captain Safdar and others went to Mazar-e-Quaid to pay tribute to the father of the nation at around 4.30 pm on October 18.

Showing the cell phone calls detail report (CDR) of Waqas Ahmed, the complainant in the FIR, Shah said that at the time of 4:30 pm of October 18, he was at Baqai University, near Motorway. “The location of his mobile is found at 4.30 pm of October 18 at Motorway,” he said and added “when the complainant was not present on the spot, at the Mazar, how did Captain Safdar give him life threats?” he asked and said “it was a conspiracy hatched by PTI MPAs in a meeting they held with the complainant, the witnesses and their other accomplices,” he disclosed.

The CM showed photographs of a PTI MPA [Haleem Adil Shaikh] who was holding a meeting with the complainant in the FIR, Waqas and witnesses, Nadeem Brohi and Pandhi Khan Bugti before registering a FIR against the Safdar. The CM said that they planned to sabotage the PDM rally but failed. “If it is assumed that the complainant in the FIR, Waqas along with his two witnesses was present in the Mazar, the question arises what they were doing there when PML-N leaders had official engagement at the Mazar,” he asked.

“This shows that the PTI leadership was quite upset, perplexed and went berserk when they witnessed an unprecedented public meeting was held against their inefficient government in Center they started hatching different conspiracies,” Shah said. The CM said that before the proclaimed offender got his fake FIR registered, the PTI leaders went to the police station one after another to force the police to register a case against PML-N leaders. “But the police as per law refused to register the cases and then they took the officials of Quaid-e-Azam Board to the police station when the police told them that the magistrate was competent to take cognizance.

“Finally, the PTI MPAs took a proclaimed offender, Waqas clad in the same dress he was photographed while attending the meeting of the MPA [Haleem Adil Shaikh] to the Brigade Police Station along with his two witnesses and filed a fake application that he was given life threats by Captain Safdar and the police registered the FIR as per law,” he said and added it proved that the police of the province were independent to do their job freely. The police arrested Captain Safdar and then presented him in the court where he was bailed out.

“I have serious reservations on the way Safdar was arrested,” he said and added it was a sheer violation of Chadar and Chardiwari,” he said and added he would inquire into the matter also.

He said that the PTI MPAs and a federal minister had started playing tricks right from 3:00 pm of October 18 to the evening of October 19 because they had gone berserk and bonkers after witnessing a referendum-like mammoth rally against their federal government.

The chief minister recalled that in 2013 and 2017, PTI Chief Imran Khan and his workers had violated the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid during their presence there and now they were trying to implicate others in violation of the sanctity of the mazar. “How hard nosed they are,” he said and added the incident of the Mazar should have not taken place but there was a way to address it,” he said.

Inquiry: Murad Ali Shah said that since a high-level conspiracy was made against the Sindh government and the PDMA, therefore, it must be inquired thoroughly. He announced to constitute a five to three members ministerial committee to inquire into the incident. “I would also appear before the committee to record my statement and the others would have to appear before it,” he said clearly. He also disclosed that the Ministerial Inquiry Committee with clear TORs would be notified within a few days to start inquiry.

Q and A: To a question, the chief minister said that he was informed at 7 am that the FIR had been registered and arrest made. “I had pointed out that why a PTI team was accompanied with a private person who had registered the FIR – the malfied intentions were clear at the first sight,” he said and added where the PTI leadership was leading the country was an open secret.

Shah, to another question, said that the PTI government had failed to achieve their revenue recovery targets, therefore, they had massively curtailed the revenue shares of the provinces. “The PTI government in the center has plunged the provincial government into a financial crisis,” he said.

Replying to a question about Islands development, Shah said that his government had rejected the Presidential Ordinance promulgated to illegally occupy the Islands in Sindh and Balochistan. “I am surprised that the federal government knowing that the Sindh government has withdrawn its permission letter has started inviting xpression of Interest for development of the island,” he said and added the provincial assembly was meeting tomorrow to demand the federal government to withdraw the ordinance.

At the outset of his press conference, the CM thanked the PDMA leadership for providing its platform to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karsaz. He also thanked people of the province who attended the rally in a large number to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karsaz and registered their protest against the incompetent federal government of PTI.
