SAPM: (Healthcare workers played pivotal role to stop spread of COVID-19 in Pakistan: Dr Faisal)

ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said healthcare workers played a pivotal role to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Addressing a ceremony organized to pay tribute to Covid Frontline Warriors here on Thursday, he lauded the courage and bravery of doctors and paramedics of the country. The Special Assistant expressed his gratitude for their services in fight against the pandemic.

Highlighting government’s initiatives for healthcare, he said after the pandemic world has realized the importance of quality healthcare system. He said government has introduced health card scheme to ensure provision of healthcare to poor segments of society.

PM: (PM expresses satisfaction over positive trend in country’s exports)

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed satisfaction over the positive trend in the country’s exports.

In a tweet on Thursday depicting 8.32 percent and 18.30 percent increase in the country’s exports during the months of November and December last year, he said the exports of India and Bangladesh during this period showed negative growth. The Prime Minister once again congratulated the exporters and the Ministry of Commerce for enhancement in country’s exports.

CM: (Punjab Govt to monitor marts and cash carry stores to facilitate people: Dr Firdous)

ISLAMABAD:Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that provincial government has decided to monitor the marts and cash carry stores to facilitate people.

Speaking at a news conference in Lahore on Thursday, she said the government is trying to ensure availability of commodities at controlled rates at utility stores in Punjab. She said government is providing quality produces at utility stores and in fair-price bazaars to reduce the inflation in Punjab.

Envoy: (Pakistan urges world to promote solutions for Kashmir, other protracted conflicts)

ISLAMABAD:At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged to develop common strategies and plans to find just solutions for complex and protracted challenges, including the conflicts of Kashmir and Palestine.

In a statement, A Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the world body, Mohammad Aamir Khan told the UN Security Council that foreign occupation, intervention and aggression have led to untold suffering for millions in the Muslim world.

He said peoples of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, continue to struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination and the end of foreign occupation.

Muhammad Amir also asked the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play an important role to apprise the international community of the legitimate concerns of the Muslim world, including the resurgence of Islamophobia.

Jail operation postposed

LARKANA:Police wanted to conduct an operation in Central Jail here Thursday to find mobile phones which was postponed after the inmates came out of the barracks and protested against corruption of the jail authorities.

The operation was launched on the information that inmates are possessing large numbers of cellular phones and are using them frequently inside the prison for their ulterior and unlawful motives for which the prisoners alleged that phones were given by the jail authorities after getting huge money.

The inmates held protests inside the jail, shouted slogans and police resorted to aerial firing and used gas shelling to disperse them and to send them back to their barracks. Police and rangers were called to help the cops posted inside and control the situation.

Jail Superintendent Anwar Mustafa Shah and SSP Masood Bangash held talks with the prisoners after which the protesting inmates went back to their barracks when they were assured that operation will not be made.

The Jail Superintendent said that prisoners did not allow operation last night due to which the inmates held a protest today. He said operation has been postponed and will soon be carried out after proper planning. It must be mentioned here that hardened criminals who are in jail are threatening people outside over mobile phones for their ulterior motives which should be curbed with iron hands of law.

Religious parties stage rally in Shikarpur against Mach incident

Shikarpur:Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) with the support of other Shia organizations took out a rally and staged a sit-in at its camp near Jail Chowrangi Shikarpur on Thursday in protest against killing of 11 coal miners in Mach some days back.

A large number of citizens and religious organizations, including Imamia Students Organization, Asgharia Organization, Shuhada Committee, Payam-e-Wilayat, Shia Ulma Council and others, participated in the rally and sit-in protest while taking placards and banners in their hands. They were raising slogans for provision of justice to the victim families.

They threatened that they would continue their protest and will never leave protest camp till the Prime Minister Imran Khan holds dialogue with the victim families.

The vehicular traffic was badly affected due to the rally and the sit-in camp arranged at main entrance and exit points of Shikarpur near Jail Chowrangi Shikarpur. The protesters strongly condemned the Mach incident and demanded immediate justice to the victim families.
