One shot dead and other injured over ‘honour issued’

DERA MURAD JAMALI:One person was shot dead and another injured in the name of so-called honour in CNG colony of Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, one person namely Asghar Ali, son of Saleh Muhammad Umrani, resident of Manjuti, was gunned down while another Barakat Ali, son of Nabi Bakhsh Umrani, was injured by unidentified armed men in CNG Colony of Dera Murad Jamali over so-called honour issue.

Assailants managed to escape after committing the crime. The body and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for completion of necessary medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.

Bilawal terms budget as anti-people

KARACHI:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed the budget as anti-people and cruel. “Over 400 billion rupees of taxes have been imposed on the people of Pakistan”, he said.

In a statement issued from Media Cell Bilawal House today, Bilawal said that Imran Khan’s government had taxed every household item, utility, and service used by the people of Pakistan.

“Taxing every phone call, SMS, and internet in the budget and then walking it back after there is backlash the next day is proof that the government has no plan, and that it continues to muddle forward at the cost of the well-being of the people of Pakistan,” said Chairman PPP.

“The Government is also afraid of the public reaction against the heavy taxes imposed on them.” Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari rejected the budget, deeming it blatant theft from the public in the name of taxes, and warned that he would continue to expose the anti-people economic measures of Imran Khan.

JUI-F to launch Save Sindh movement

LARKANA:The Sindh Government has committed grave injustices with the people of Sindh by selling Sindh’s lands to Bahria Town, DHA and other private companies. They are selling Sindh’s islands, Thar coal and other natural resources which JUI-Fazal condemns in strongest possible words.

This was stated by Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro, General Secretary, JUI-Fazal, Sindh, while addressing a press conference at Larkana Press Club here on Sunday.

Soomro said Bahria Town is existing in Islamabad, Lahore, Multan and other parts of the country but the Sindh government has sold more lands to Bahria Town than others whereas first right over it is of Sindhi people.

Four die due to poisonous gas spread

QUETTA:Four labourers died after inhaling poisonous gas in a well at Marri Abad area of Alamdar Road in Quetta on Sunday.

According to police, four labourers went inside a well to clean it, but all of them fell unconscious due to accumulation of poisonous gas in the well.

After a long struggle that lasted for many hours, the unconscious labourers were rescued and rushed to Sandeman Provincial Hospital, Quetta where the doctors pronounced them dead. The bodies were handed over to the heirs after fulfilment of necessary medico-legal formalities. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in the victims’ houses. Further investigation was underway.

Shanghai Electric launched vaccination drive in Thar

KARACHI:Shanghai Electric has started a drive to vaccinate its Pakistani employees in Thar Block-1.

According to Shanghai Electric statement more than 5000 employees who are associated with the CPEC projects are being vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign was inaugurated by Wang Xiaofan. Also present on the occasion were other senior officials of Shanghai Electric’s local subsidiary companies along with officials of the Sindh Health department.

Four security men killed in explosion

QUETTA:Explosion near the vehicle of security forces took the lives of four security personnel in Marget area, some 40 kilometer away from Quetta, on Sunday.

According to security sources, vehicle of Frontier Corps’ 80 Wing, Ghaza Bund Scouts was struck by bomb when it was clearing the way in Marget area, some 40 kilometres away from Quetta.

Four personnel of FC embraced martyrdom in the blast. The deceased were identified as Subedar Sardar, Sepoy Awais, Sepoy Anwar and Sepoy Musdaf Jan. Security forces cordoned off the area and started searching for the terrorists.

Ram visits Rahim Garhori’s shrine

KARACHI:Hari Ram Kishori Lal, Provincial Minister for Food and Minority Affairs, visited the shrine of renowned sufi saint Makhdoom Abdul Rahim Garhori at Garhoor Sharif.

Syed Asif Ali Shah, a Gadhi Nasheen of Dargah Makhdoom Abdul Rahim Garhori Sharif, was also accompanied him. Ram said that the land of Sindh is the land of sufis and saints. We all have to play our vital role in building a better society by following the teachings of the sufis irrespective of race and religion, he added.
