Uzbekistan wants access to world through Pakistani sea ports: Envoy

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):kistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Syed Ali Asad Gillani says Prime Minister Imran Khan’s two-day official visit to Uzbekistan is of strategic level that will uplift the bilateral relationship to strategic partnership. In an interview, he said the Prime Minister will hold talks with the leadership of Uzbekistan on enhancement of bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors, including politics, culture, economy, defence, education and people to people contacts.

He said several agreements and MoUs will be signed between the two countries during the visit. He said a joint declaration will also be signed that will set the future direction of the bilateral relationship. The Ambassador said Uzbekistan wants access to the world through Pakistani sea ports while Pakistan intends to enhance its exports to Central Asia and Europe through Uzbekistan.

He said over one hundred Pakistani businessmen have arrived in Uzbekistan, and they are interacting with the Uzbek business community to enhance bilateral trade. He said a clear positive change has been witnessed in the bilateral ties over the last eight months Syed Ali Asad Gillani said Pakistan and Uzbekistan also have an important role in the region.

Pakistan, Uzbekistan to sign PTA to bolster trade and economic ties

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):Adviser on Commerce Razak Dawood has said Pakistan and Uzbekistan will sign a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to bolster their trade and economic relations. Addressing a business forum in Tashkent on Thursday, he said a new era of cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan will start through Preferential Trade Agreement, banking system and improvement in customs.

He said Pakistani businessmen have come up with a plan for investment in Uzbekistan. Talking to the media in Tashkent, Secretary Board of Investment, Fareena Mazhar said the negotiations relating to PTA will be completed in two months. She said there is already consensus between the two sides on important matters.

Shibli vows to make strides towards addressing country’s water related issues

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to make strides towards addressing the country’s water related issues. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, he said we have to give next generations a water secure Pakistan. The Minister pointed out that Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources and Capital Development Authority have recently signed a program of cooperation for artificial groundwater recharge and development of an evidence based ground water regulatory framework for Islamabad. He said with the help of scientific data and smart technologies we can take the matters towards improvement.

Pakistan expresses deep grief over tragic incident of fire at hospital in Iraq

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic incident of fire at a hospital in Nasiriya, Iraq. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri extended condolences to the government and people of Iraq on the loss of precious lives and injuries caused to many in the incident. He said Pakistan stands with brotherly Iraq in this hour of grief.

Asad asks people to follow Covid related SOPs

In a tweet today (Thursday), he expressed concerns over increase in the inflow of Covid patients in hospitals. He said the Indian variant has caused devastation in countries in the region.

COVID-19: 47 more deaths, 2,545 cases reported in country

Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):Forty-seven more deaths due to Coronavirus and 2,545 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country. According to National Command and Operation Centre, 48,910 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained five point two percent. The death toll due to pandemic in the country has reached 22,689.
