FPCCI proposes one window facility for women entrepreneurs

KARACHI: The Securities and Exchange Committee of Pakistan (SECP) has assured women entrepreneurs to do business and remove barriers to company registration. On request of FPCCI Women Entrepreneur Committee, it also assured to consider setting up a one-window facility to assist women entrepreneurs at SECP.

SECP Additional Registrar, Syed Iftikhar-ul-Hassan Naqvi and Woman Registrar Fauzia Rashid, discussed in detail the difficulties faced by women entrepreneurs in company registration at a meeting of the Women Entrepreneur Standing Committee held at FPCCI. They informed the participants that the duration of company registration is being minimized and within four hours, it may be registered, while the procedure had also been simplified.

“If a company mimics a logo or uses someone else’s logo illegally, an urgent petition should be filed against it. Under which immediate action will be taken”, SECP officials informed. Nazli Abid Nisar, Convener Women Entrepreneur Standing Committee, former Vice President FPCCI, former Vice President Women Chambers of Commerce South urged SECP officials to provide business facilities for women entrepreneurs and facilitate company registration. She suggested setting up one window facility and separate desk.

The Convener Women Entrepreneur called for encouragement of women entrepreneurs and provision of business opportunities on equal basis, and said that laws should be enacted to provide business protection to women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs must register their trademarks, logos and patents so that no one else can take advantage of them illegally.

Nazli also asked for the prevention of harassment of women in offices, cybercrime protection and giving them basic rights, and said that there should be no obstacles in their way of doing business. She also appreciated the assurance of the Additional Registrar SECP for company registration within 4 hours and also discussed how to ease doing business.

Shibli vows to make strides towards addressing country’s water related issues

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to make strides towards addressing the country’s water related issues.

Addressing a ceremony here on Thursday, he said we have to give next generations a water secure Pakistan.

He pointed out that Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources and Capital Development Authority have recently signed a program of cooperation for artificial groundwater recharge and development of an evidence based ground water regulatory framework for Islamabad.

He said with the help of scientific data and smart technologies we can take the matters towards improvement.

Covid claims 47 more lives over last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: As many as 47 more deaths due to Coronavirus and 2,545 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country during the last 24 hours.

According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 48,910 tests were conducted, while positivity ratio remained five point two percent. The death toll due to pandemic in the country has reached 22,689.

Asad Umar asks people to follow Covid related SOPs

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has asked the people to follow the Covid related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible.

In a tweet on Thursday, he expressed concerns over increase in the inflow of Covid patients in hospitals. He said the Indian variant has caused devastation in countries in the region.

PM leaves for Uzbekistan on two-day official visit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Thursday) has left for Tashkent on a two-day official visit to Uzbekistan.

He is accompanied by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi, National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf and Atif Khan.

Talks between the leadership of the two countries will cover the entire gamut of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on trade, economic cooperation and connectivity.

The leaders will also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The Prime Minister’s visit carries special significance particularly in respect of bilateral and regional trade, regional connectivity and defence cooperation.

During the visit, a number of agreements and MoUs will be signed in areas of mutual interest, including transportation of goods, cooperation between chambers of commerce of the two countries, trade, education, culture and tourism.

The Prime Minister will also address the first Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum. On the invitation of the Uzbek President, the Prime Minister will participate in the International Conference on Central and South Asia Regional Connectivity: Challenges and Opportunities.
