Levies force foils terror plot linked to Independence Day

KOHLU: Quick Response Force (QRF) of Levies Force Kohlu Wednesday claimed to have foiled a terrorism plot on the eve of Independence Day by seizing huge cache of arms and ammunition in an operation conducted in Kahan area.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner, Kohlu, Imran Ibrahim Bangulzai, said that Quick Response Force (QRF), Levies Force, Kohlu conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Kahan area of Kohlu and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout of terrorists.

Among the seized arms and ammunition, to be used on the eve of Independence Day, included 1 M-25 gun, 312 rounds of M-25 gun, 2300 rounds of 12.7, 60 rounds of MM, 70 back fuse, 6 rounds of RPG-7, 6 fuse of RPG-7, 68 packet of dynamites and 2 explosive devices, according to QRF.

Accused assaulting minor girl arrested in Nawa killi area

QUETTA: Zarghoon Abad police station Wednesday claimed to have arrested accused physically assaulting a eight-year old girl in Nawa killi area.

According to Jamil Kakar, Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Zarghoonabad, the police arrested accused Sarfraz, son of Shah Muhammad Dotani, a resident of Nawa Killi, over charge of physically assaulting girl Maryum. Further investigation was underway by the police.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Ejaz Sarwar (PAS/BS-17), Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Quetta Division has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commissioner, Pishin while Hazrat Wali (BCS/BS-17), Assistant Commissioner, Pishin, has been transferred and directed to report to SandGAD, according to a notification issued today.

Minority community jobs in Sindh being implemented: Essrani

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Gyan Chand Essrani in his message on the occasion of Minority Day said on Wednesday that the minority community in Pakistan, especially in Sindh, has equal rights and according to the manifesto of Pakistan Peoples Party, the rights of the minority community are respected.

He said in a statement that Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were paying special attention to the welfare of the minority community which was a reflection of the significant contribution to the minority community in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.

He further said that the minority community had full confidence in the vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the context of which work for the welfare of minorities was underway under the guidance of Chief Minister Sindh.

He added that the quota of minority community in government jobs in Sindh was being implemented in a transparent manner and special funds had also been allocated for the construction and renovation of places of worship of the minority community. “The Department of Minority Affairs’ development schemes are an expression of love for the minority community,” he concluded.

Industrial Estate Larkana being developed with Rs1366.420 million cost: Minister

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said Wednesday that infrastructure of Industrial Estate Larkana was being developed at the cost of Rs 1366.420 million.

“The scheme envisages provision of infrastructure such as road network, water supply system, drainage system, filter plant, sewerage plant, street lights and other necessary buildings while construction of Effluent Treatment Plant at Site Kotri will be completed in 2022 at the cost of Rs 99.688 million,” he said while presiding over a meeting regarding Annual Development Program 2021-22 here in his office. Secretary Industries and Commerce Aamir Khursheed, MD SITE Munawar Ali Mahesar and other officers also attended the meeting.

Khursheed briefed Dharejo about ongoing and new development schemes. Dharejo directed the officers to expedite work on development schemes and complete them within stipulated time. He asked them to ensure drainage of rains water from industrial zones on priority basis and also ensure timely functioning of effluent treatment plants in industrial zones.

He added: “I will assign a third party to monitor the quality of development work and if I find any negligence, prompt action will be taken against the officer concerned.” Dharejo said that through industrial development, Sindh government wanted to provide better job opportunities to the youth to minimize pressure on government jobs. “Industrial development is the need of the hour and we must come up to the expectations of the masses,” he concluded.

Subsidy of Rs10b to be given to farmers on different agriculture inputs for Kharif season: NA told

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly resumed its session here at the parliament house on Wednesday with Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri in the chair.

The National Assembly was informed that a program of 313 billion rupees has been prepared to address the issue of malnutrition amongst the children. Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services, Nousheen Hamid told the House during the Question Hour that the Central Development Working Party has already approved the program.

She said the program has been prepared on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the target is to eliminate stunting by 2030. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan told the House that efforts are being made to introduce new seeds to increase the agriculture productivity including that of cotton.

He said we gave a special relief package of fifty billion rupees to the agriculture sector after the break out of Covid-19. He said subsidies were given to the farmers on fertilizers, pesticides and seed. He said as a result of these measures, the country witnessed a record wheat production of 27.5 million metric ton. He said it is the first time that the investment is being made to address the problems of the farmers.

He said a subsidy of ten billion rupees will be given to the farmers on different agriculture inputs for the Kharif season. Parliamentary Secretary for Water Resources Saleh Muhammad told the House that the work on Diamer Basha dam is in full swing.

He said the installed electricity generation capacity of this project will be 4500 megawatts. He said the construction of water reservoirs will help address the issue of water shortage. The House will now meet again tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m.

Ambassador of Jordon in Pakistan calls on Naval Chief

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Jordon in Pakistan Ibrahim Almadani called on Naval Chief Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi here on Wednesday.

Matters of mutual interest and the regional security situation were discussed in the meeting. The Jordanian Ambassador thanked Pakistan Navy for PNS Zulfiquar’s recent participation in Jordan’s centennial celebrations. The two sides reiterated the resolve to strengthen the bilateral relations.

81 people died of Coronavirus in country during last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: As many as 81 deaths due to Coronavirus and 4,856 new positive cases of the infection have been reported in the country during last twenty four hours.

According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 64,690 tests were conducted and positivity ratio remained seven point five zero percent. The number of total deaths due to the Coronavirus pandemic has reached 24,085.
