Govt to invite top Chinese scientists to benefit in agriculture sector: Fakhar

ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam has said that cooperation between Pakistan and China in agriculture sector particularly in research will help to increase the production of all crops.

Talking to media persons in Faisalabad on Saturday, he said the government will invite the top Chinese scientists to benefit from their work. The Minister said that the support price of the cotton has been fixed at five thousand rupees per quintal.

Pakistani peacekeeper embraces martyrdom in Darfur

ISLAMABAD: One Pakistani peacekeeper embraced martyrdom while on duty in Darfur.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lance Naik Adil Jan, FC Balochistan, resident of Lakki Marwat was part of the UN mission in Darfur in Sudan responsible for protection of civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance.

So far 161 Pakistani peace keepers have laid down lives as part of global peace missions for international peace and stability.

Corona claims 82 more lives during last 24 hours in country

ISLAMABAD: As many as 82 more deaths due to coronavirus infection and 3,480 positive cases have been reported in the country during the last 24 hours.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) statistics, 63,181 tests were conducted yesterday (Friday) and positivity ratio remained five point five zero percent.

Meanwhile, all those people, whose second dose against Covid-19 has become due, can visit any vaccine center throughout the week to get the jab. According to the NCOC, they are not required to wait for the message. Sunday has particularly been fixed for the administration of second dose.

Pakistan urges for prioritizing sustainable recovery through investments in infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged for prioritizing sustainable and resilient recovery, providing policy solutions for green and digital recovery through investments in sustainable infrastructure.

Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Aamir Khan, in a statement on UN day on South-South Cooperation, said the pandemic can only be defeated through global and cross-border coordination. He said the developing countries are saddled with rising debt levels which limit their ability to prove much-needed public healthcare and social protection.

Death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah being observed

ISLAMABAD: The 73rd death anniversary of father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed today (Saturday).

In this connection, special ceremony of Quran Khawani and Fateha was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam in Karachi today (Saturday). People from different walks of life are visiting the mausoleum and laying floral wreath on his grave. Father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah passed away on 11th September, 1948 shortly after achieving freedom for the nation.

Security forces conduct IBO in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: Security forces have conducted an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Hassu Khel, Mir Ali, North Waziristan District on reported presence of terrorists.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), during intense exchange of fire with terrorists, a terrorist got killed and six terrorists were apprehended.

Security beef for Cantonment Board Peshawar election

PESHAWAR: The distribution of election materials for Cantonment Board Peshawar elections has started and the election materials are being handed over to the respective presiding officers from the election cell here.

For the smooth conduct of the election on Sunday, special security arrangements have also been made for the distribution of election materials besides holding of the election in a transparent way.

Elections will be held on Sunday (Sept 12) in five wards of Cantonment Board Peshawar wherein a total of 32,284 voters will exercise their right to vote and more than 40 candidates are in the run. The election cell has set up 27 polling stations for the elections. A special security plan has been drawn up for the cantonment board elections.
