Pakistan has received 66 flights carrying relief goods from friendly countries so far: FO

Islamabad, September 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has so far received 66 flights from friendly countries and international organizations carrying relief goods for flood victims. According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, United Arab Emirates sent thirty one flights, Turkiye eleven, China four, Qatar four, USA five, one each by France, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Jordan. United Nations Children’s Fund has also sent two flights, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees three and World Food Programme dispatched two flights for flood affected people of Pakistan. Prime Minister thanks United Nations Secretary General for his unprecedented support of Pakistan flood victims

Islamabad, September 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for his unprecedented support of the flood victims. In a tweet on Sunday, he said UNSG’s two-day visit has been critical in raising awareness about the human tragedy. He said Pakistan needs global support to overcome this challenge. The Prime Minister said during his visit to the flood-affected areas and camps under scorching heat, the UN Secretary General was overwhelmed by the scale of devastation that has engulfed Pakistan. Iraq announces to increase no. of visas for Pakistani Zaireen

Islamabad, September 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Iraq has announced to increase the number of visas for Pakistani Zaireen and open all entry points for them. The announcement was made by Iraqi Interior Minister Othman Ali Farhood Moshir Al-Ghanimi during a telephonic conversation with Pakistani counterpart Rana Sanaullah today. Earlier, Rana Sanaullah had requested his Iraqi counterpart to allow five thousand stranded Pakistani Zaireen at Iran border to enter Iraq. He also requested for issuance of special visas to Pakistani Zaireen wishing to visit Iraq for upcoming Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and to permanently open Iran-Iraq border for them. Flood affected power transmission system fully restored: Dastgir

Islamabad, September 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan says the flood affected power transmission system has been fully restored across the country. Addressing a news conference in Gujranwala today (Sunday), he said the transmission system was badly damaged by the unprecedented floods, as power poles were washed away in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Replying to a question, the Minister said load shedding has been controlled during summer by running all power plants in the country. He said the oil and power prices are likely to decrease from next month which will also help to lower prices of other items. PAF actively involved in rehabilitation of flood affectees

Islamabad, September 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Air Force is actively involved in the rehabilitation of flood affectees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan and South Punjab. According to PAF spokesperson, PAF personnel are taking immediate steps for the well-being of flood victims and timely provision of basic necessities of food, shelter, drinking water and medical assistance to them. To provide much needed relief to the suffering flood affectees, PAF Emergency Response teams have distributed 23,076 cooked food packs, 1103 water bottles and 1795 ration packs consisting of basic food commodities among the needy families during the last 24 hours.
