19 Pakistani manufacturers to join Paris exhibition starting from Feb 6

KARACHI: Nineteen fabric and garments manufacturers of Pakistan will take part in the three-day Texworld/Apparel Sourcing Paris fair to be held from 6-8 Feb 2023.

Pakistan will have direct exhibitors and a national pavilion organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan. Following exhibitors from Pakistan will showcase their products in the fair.

Fabric: Artmill, Kamal Limited, Liberty Mills Limited, Sapphire Finishing Mills, Sarena Dyeing and Finishing Mills, Shafi Texcel Limited, Shahtaj Textile, Shekhani Industries and Qasimi Industries.

Denim: Glamour Garments, Mekotex Private Limited and Shafi Private Limited.

Apparel: Interloop Limited, J.R Dyeing and Textile Mills, Karsaz Textile, Rainbow Hosiery, Sesil Private Limited, Fashion Channel and Starsmade Factory

Texworld Evolution Paris brings together twice a year in Paris, wherein a thousand exhibitors from the fashion industry participates. It offers professional buyers from all over the world a sourcing platform with a wide variety of products ranging from basics to the most creative and qualitative.

With nearly 750 companies from some 20 countries, these three days will be an opportunity for visitors to renew their acquaintance. There will be five country pavilions of Ethiopia, Ghana, South Korea, Pakistan and Turkey. China will have a big participation with 428 exhibitors.

Fair will display a global range of fashion products from the major manufacturing countries of Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, Korea, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Pakistan.

PTCL brings biggest E-Sports gaming competition GameKey

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s largest telecommunications group – PTCL and Ufone 4G – is bringing aboard professional and aspiring gamers from across Pakistan to compete in a thrilling PUBG MOBILE tournament on its gaming platform, GameKey.

PTCL Group launched GameKey – a one-window access platform to a curated selection of the most popular online games to provide a seamless and rewarding playing experience to all gamers, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

Pakistan has recently witnessed a rising gaming culture with a marked upsurge in the number of professional gamers and gaming squads that compete in national and international tournaments, thereby successfully putting Pakistan on the global gaming landscape.

PTCL’s GameKey aims to strengthen the country’s gaming landscape by nurturing new talent and promoting professional gamers. ‘GameKey Arena’ is driven by the same motivation to help explore new gaming talent while providing a state-of-the-art platform for established players to showcase their talent and mastery of the sport.

Registrations for GameKey Arena are open till 30th January for professional and aspiring PUBG MOBILE players from across the country, regardless of their data network. The nationwide qualifiers will take place online from 1st to 8th February, while the Grand Finale is set to happen on 12th February in Lahore.

PTCL Group will invite the top 16 squads to Lahore to take part in the grand finale. The champion team will be awarded a prize money of PKR 3 million. GameKey Arena is the first tournament under GameKey, however, it is expected to become a calendar event and an annual gaming extravaganza for Pakistani gamers.

Pink Peoples Bus Service reserved for women soon

KARACHI: The Transport Department Sindh said on Thursday that it has taken an important initiative and decided to launch Pink Peoples Bus Service reserved for women.

The new bus service is being launched keeping in view the commuting problems of working women particularly. The decision to this effect has been taken in a meeting chaired by Information, Transport and Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon at his resident due to his health reasons.

The Provincial Minister announced that Pink Peoples Bus Service will be launched from February 1, and added that Model Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal, to Tower route has been selected for the first route of Pink People’s Bus Service. He said that Pink Bus service will operate every 20 minutes in morning and evening during office hours, while it will operate after every hour during normal hours.

The provincial minister said that after the launch of orange, red and white bus services in Karachi, now pink bus service is being started for women only. He said that Pakistan Peoples Party was moving fast towards fulfilling its promises made with the people of Karachi. The meeting also reviewed the operations of Peoples Bus Service in Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad and the launch of remaining routes including route No. 4, 5, 6 and 7 in Karachi.

The provincial minister directed that the operations of the Peoples Bus Service should be started in Sukkur by January 29. He also directed the Managing Director Sindh Mass Transit Authority to visit the remaining routes of the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi and inspect the ongoing repair work of the routes.

He said that operations of bus service should be started on routes 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Karachi as soon as possible, so that more and more citizens of Karachi should have access to the modern public transport facility. Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Managing Director Sindh Mass Transit Authority Zubair Chana, and Operations Manager NRTC Abdul Shakoor attended the meeting.

Shujaat removed from PML-Q president slot

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) General Council has removed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as party president, appointing his brother Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain in his place, it emerged Thursday.

The meeting of the general council was held at the Muslim League House, Lahore, and it was attended by party leaders and lawmakers from Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir. The council decided to appoint Kamil Ali Agha as central secretary general while Tariq Bashir Cheema has also been removed from the post.

The move shows widening differences between Shujaat and Parvez Elahi ever since the party decided to side with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and form government in Punjab. Chaudhry Shaujaat is yet to comment on the development which comes a week after he (Shujaat) removed Moonis Elahi as parliamentary leader in the National Assembly and appointed Mr Cheema in his place. Earlier, the former PML-Q president suspended the party membership of Parvez Elahi for hinting at the possible merger of his party with the PTI.

Demo held against Larkana’s money lenders

LARKANA: Residents of Sikander Colony of Larkana city staged a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Thursday against the alleged atrocities of the money-lenders.

Speaking on that occasion, private taxi driver Mohammad Mithal Dahot, along with his mother Ghulam Fatima, son Arsalan, sisters Shahzadi Khatoon, Bilqis Khatoon and others, alleged that his brother Mohammad Khan Dahot was a cashier at Askari CNG located on Station Road in the city, whose manager Ansar Chano and another man Aijaz Memon, gave money to his brother on interest without informing them and filed a false case of giving fake checks against his brother along with him six months ago.

The police arrested his brother Muhammad Khan and sent him to jail and he obtained bail, he added. The influential people demanded payment of interest money from him and on his refusal, they forcibly occupied his and his brother’s house and filed a petition in the court against both of them. He further alleged that influential Ansar Chano and Ijaz Memon were demanding interest payment and on failure to pay them, they were issuing them life threats and lodging of more false cases.

He said that after the occupation of the house, they had been forced to live a life of poverty and homelessness. He appealed to IG Police Sindh, DIG and SSP Larkana and other officials to take notice of the matter and take legal action against the influential moneylenders to end the occupation of the places and do justice.

Tessori inaugurates Mother Care Ward, Ultrasound Unit at Sobhraj Hospital

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori on Thursday said that a five-year plan should be prepared for Karachi, which will reveal how Karachi will be in the next five years.

“Once there was a stone age, today there are stone people,” he expressed these views while inaugurating the Mother Care Ward and the renovated Ultrasound Unit at Sobhraj Maternity Hospital.

Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Senior Director Medical Services Dr Nadeem Asif, MS Sobhraj Hospital Dr Hooria and a large number of other concerned officers, doctors and paramedical staff were also present.

The Governor Sindh said that doctors do their part and the service rendered by them in the time of COVID-19 is admirable, he said that together we all have to change the situation. Talking to the media representatives, he said in response to a question that the protest is done for the rights of the people.

He said that it is the right of every political party to raise their voice and speak in the Assembly to resolve the problems of the people. The governor said that he had opened Gate No. 4 of the Governor House, every person belonging to Karachi and Sindh can register their complaint to the complaint cell.

These complaints are registered on phone number 1366. All utility service providers Institutional representatives are present here and try to take action within 15 minutes of registering the complaint. “I myself will sit in the complaint cell in the morning and listen to the complaints of the citizens,” he added.

Tessori said that the rulers do not know how a person who gets a salary of Rs 25,000 supports his family and what problems he faces. He said that now is not the time for politics. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman said that efforts are being made to upgrade the hospitals managed by KMC and today a mother care unit and ultrasound were inaugurated in Sobhraj Maternity Hospital with the support of UNESCO. These facilities will help the patients coming here and women will get facility.

He said that there are 400 OPDs on a daily basis in Sobhraj, more than 15 operations are performed, he said that it is also a teaching hospital and students of Karachi Medical and Dental College study here. He said that Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Sarfraz Rafiqi Shaheed Hospital, Leprosi Hospital, Spencer Eye Hospital are the hospitals of Karachi whose services are commendable. Senior Director Medical Services Dr. Nadeem Asif, MS Sobhraj Dr. Houria and Hashim Shaikh also spoke on the occasion.

PML-Q terms Pervaiz Elahi’s move to reelect party’s leadership as unconstitutional

ISLAMABAD: PML-Q leaders Tariq Bashir Cheema and Chaudhry Salik Hussain have termed Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi’s move to reelect party’s leadership as unconstitutional and illegal.

Addressing media here in Islamabad on Thursday, Tariq Bashir Cheema said decisions regarding the leadership of party will be made in Party’s General Council meeting that will be held soon with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in the chair. He said Pervaiz Elahi cannot change the leadership of the party single handedly as the final decision regarding party’s head will be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain said under the constitution of the party only Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain can make final decision. After the emergence of apparent differences within the party ranks, the PML-Q General Council on Thursday removed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the party chief.

The decision was made during a consultative meeting of the party held at Pakistan Muslim League House in Lahore. Brother of Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, has been given the command of the PML-Q. The meeting also removed Shujaat’s close aide, Tariq Bashir Cheema, and selected Kamil Ali Agha as the central secretary-general of the party.
