3 policemen arrested over prisoner’s escape from Naushahro Feroze court, fugitive prisoner also caught

Three police officials have been taken into custody for security negligence in the incident of a prisoner’s escape from the premises of the District and Sessions Court on Wednesday, and they are facing legal proceedings.

The prisoner, identified as Sikandar Mari, was brought to attend a hearing when he allegedly deceived his guards and escaped, taking advantage of the negligence of the police personnel assigned to him.

In a swift development, the escaped prisoner later surrendered himself to the authorities. According to reports, Mari’s family handed him over to law enforcement agencies due to mounting pressure from the police and influential political figures.

Taking immediate notice of the incident, SSP Naushahro Feroze, Mir Rohail Khoso, ordered the arrest of the officials deemed responsible for dereliction of duty.

The arrested officials-ASI Nazir Ahmed Siyal, Head Constable Muhammad Umar Solangi, and Constable Waqar Ahmed Rajput-have been locked up in the quarter guard. According to sources, a formal case has also been registered against the three individuals.
