LARKANA: The fifth convocation of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana was held at its Arija Campus, in which 250 students of Chandka Medical College, 65 of Ghulam Mohammad Mahar College Sukkur, 120 of Bibi Asifia Dental College, 23 of Institute of Pharmacy and 42 students of Benazir College of Nursing were awarded with degrees while gold medals were given away to 10 best performing post graduates.
The university awarded gold medals to 64 prominent students in various departments of the university, according to which Samia Ayub, Ramsha Salim and Rida Mukhtiar secured gold medals for obtaining prominent positions for MBBS 2015 and for securing first, second and third positions respectively.
For 2017, Ghulam Madani, Habibullah and Falak Naz won gold medals. The gold medals were also awarded to Dua Zahra, Ayesha Maryam and Aqsa Rani for achieving outstanding positions for 2018, while individually 12 female students of four batches of Chandka Medical College Larkana were awarded gold medals for securing first, second and third positions in their respective colleges.
Similarly, 12 male and female students, who secured first, second and third positions in the four batches of Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College, were also declared winners for gold medals. The gold medals were also given away to the first three positions of the five batches of Bibi Asifia Dental College.
Ten postgraduate gold medals were also awarded. The Professor Wazir Muhammad Shaikh Gold Medal was awarded for the first time in the field of Medicine to Reshman Saleem, Payal Dewani, Abdul Rahman, Abdul Sami and Gul Muhammad Kalhoro, while in the field of Gynecology, Prof. Bilqis Malik Gold Medal was announced for the first time, on the basis of which, Samia Jat, Aqsa Nazir, Ali Sangi, Falak Naz and Ayesha Maryam received gold medals.
The fifth convocation of the university was presided over by Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah, Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, while the guests of honour were the Vice Chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto University, Sukkur, Dr. Tehmina Nagaraj and the former Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Asghar Chana.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah said that Chandka Medical College was the gift of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, while the University was the dream of the brave leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
