6837 vehicles checked in road checking drive

KARACHI:A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla at the end of a road checking campaign launched in Karachi to collect taxes from tax defaulting vehicle owners.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Raja Khurram Shehzad Umar, Director Generals Iqbal Ahmed Leghari, Aurangzeb Akbar Panhwar and other concerned officers. The meeting was informed that a total of 6837 vehicles were checked in Karachi. Documents of 926 vehicles were seized for various reasons and Rs. 30 lakh 80 thousand 575 were collected from these vehicles in terms of taxes.

The meeting was further informed that 10 teams were formed for road checking campaign in Karachi while these teams performed their duties at about 37 places in Karachi. Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs and Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla congratulated the concerned officers on conducting a successful road checking campaign and said that thanks to the road checking campaign not only the taxes were collected on the roads and even in the Excise and Taxation offices there was a significant increase in the number of tax payers.
