ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is a role model for entire humanity to promote peace and harmony in the world.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of two-day international Seerat-un-Nabi Conference here in Islamabad on Sunday, he said Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam un Nabiyeen Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Alayhee Wa Ashabehi Wassalam set up a model of brotherhood in Madina.
The Minister said Hazrat Muhammad promoted honesty in the society even when he was facing worst enmity from opponents. He said at the conquest of Makkah the Holy Prophet (PBUH) established a glowing example of peace, mercy and forgiveness in the world.
The Minister said fundamentals of Charter of Madina were peace, law and order, freedom of religion and business and curbing anarchy. The Minister said our government introduced income support program which later was termed as Benazir Income Support Programme. He said government will ensure transparency in this program.
He urged the political parties to set aside politics and take steps for the welfare of people suffering due to floods. He said the government has already announced many programs for the assistance of flood victims. Commenting on political wrangling in the country, Ishaq Dar said nobody will be allowed to launch an assault on the national capital of Pakistan. He said government will foil any conspiracy against the law and order of the capital.
It is particular to mention that various processions were taken out in the twin cities to celebrate Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW). Government and private buildings were decorated with colorful lights and buntings. Earlier, talking to media persons here in Islamabad on Sunday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said all Letters of Credit (LC) payments upto fifty thousand dollars will be released by the next month.
He said total pending cases of Letter of Credit payments are 7,952 and 4,400 of them will be resolved after this decision. He said the government is committed to address concerns of the business community. The Finance Minister also clarified that Pakistan is not going to the Paris Club for rescheduling of its loans. He said Pakistan will ensure payments of its national sovereign debt liabilities with the multilateral institutions well in time. He said a strategy has been evolved in this regard.
Ishaq Dar rejected speculations about any extension in the maturity of an international bond of the country. He said the bond is being matured in December this year and we will not seek its extension and all the payments in this regard will be made timely. The Finance Minister also clarified that we are not going to renegotiate the IMF Programme. He said Pakistan is a sovereign country and all international commitments will be fulfilled.
