Awami Tehreek rejects upcoming digital census in Larkana

LARKANA: Awami Tehreek (AT) termed the digital census scheduled to be conducted in the whole country including Sindh as a conspiracy against Sindh and demanded to reject it. A large number of leaders of various political and social organizations including the central AT leaders participated in the seminar hosted by the Central Vice President of AT Sajid Hussain Mahesar which was participated by Ali Hasan Wako at the Larkana Press Club last night.

Lal Jarwar, the central president, AT, addressing the digital census seminar, said that the Sindhi nation needs to understand this deep conspiracy, that this digital census is a fraud and a close conspiracy with Sindh to take votes from Sindhis and PPP is involved in this conspiracy which has consistently ruled Sindh for 15 years but have done nothing. He further said that everything done in the name of Pakistan, in the name of democracy and in the name of Islam has proved to be a conspiracy against Sindh.

He further said that the Sindhi nation has now matured and understands every conspiracy of imperialism, so if the nation rises, this conspiracy can be rejected. Lal Jarwar further said that the upcoming population census is a problem of the survival of the Sindhi nation, it is a threat to our national existence, there is a lack of practical and time-consuming counting, so it is not possible to make the digital census transparent in this short time. In this population census, urban areas are to be benefitted compared to the rural areas of Sindh, therefore 7 crore Sindhi people demand to reject this population census, he added.

Addressing the seminar, Central General Secretary of Awami Tehreek Noor Ahmad Katiyar said that when Sindh has been unfairly treated in the 2017 population census, then at this time, when millions of people of Sindh are stranded due to rain and floods havoc, what kind of transparent election will be held at this time? He further said that the PPP government in collaboration with the federation wants to conduct a census to harm Sindh, but we demand the cancellation of this census, so all the nationalist parties of Sindh, including the supporters of Sindh, should jointly stop this conspiratorial census.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Sikandar Mughal said that there are many technical issues in the digital population census, which include the lack of computer and internet access and facilities in a large part of Sindh which are also big questions.

The leader of Sindh Thinkers Forum, Dr. Zulfiqar Rahujo, said that the country has been censused 6 times so far, while injustice was done to Sindh in the previous census of 2017, so the Sindhis would again be converted into a minority in this digital census for which efforts are being made, so if the government cannot conduct a transparent census, it should be rejected immediately. Mushtaque Tunio questioned that the fresh census is due in 2027 then why it is being conducted now in violation of the existing laws.
