The 32nd meeting of the Apex Committee was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, during which the measures taken to eliminate terrorism, drugs, and other crimes in the province were reviewed.
Senior ministers, high-ranking army and police officials, and officers from other relevant institutions attended the meeting.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated that effective measures are being implemented in Sindh under the National Action Plan, and terrorism and other serious crimes have been controlled through intelligence-based operations.
It was informed in the meeting that two centers are operational in Karachi for the rehabilitation of drug addicts, and more rehabilitation centers are being established across the province.
Regarding the upgrading of police stations, ten stations have been upgraded, and work is ongoing on the rest. Section 144 has been enforced on the display of weapons, installation of police hooters on private vehicles, pressure horns, and fancy registration plates resulting in 1,474 FIRs being registered, and fines amounting to 34.6 million rupees have been collected.
The Chief Minister directed to expedite action against private vehicles with guards in civilian dress. The Sindh government announced the allocation of 214 million rupees for the establishment of a joint check post at Hub.
With the establishment of the Fusion Center, improved coordination between agencies will enhance the detection of narcotics crimes. In the year 2025, 23 cases of counter-terrorism were registered, out of which 7 were charged, and 4 resulted in convictions.
It was reported in the meeting that 318 intelligence-based operations were conducted this year, resulting in 153 cases being registered, 84 criminals being arrested, and 12 being killed.
A special unit has been established for the security of Chinese nationals, and protection is being provided to Chinese working on CPEC and non-CPEC projects. An allocation of 3.6 billion rupees has been made to further strengthen the Counter-Terrorism Department.
