Karachi: Local manufacturing and assembly of mobile phones in Pakistan saw a significant increase, with a 20% year-over-year rise in March 2026, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The figures indicate that 2.79 million units were produced in March 2026, compared to 2.33 million units in the same month last year.
According to JS Global, the cumulative production for the first quarter of 2026 reached 7.36 million units, marking a 2% increase from the previous year. Local manufacturing efforts have substantially contributed to meeting the country's mobile phone demand, with 86% of the demand fulfilled through local production during the first quarter of the year.
In the first quarter of 2026, the top locally assembled brands included VGO TEL, leading with 1.12 million units, followed by Infinix with 0.75 million units and Vivo with 0.56 million units. Other notable brands such as Samsung, Itel, Tecno, Nokia, X Mobile, OPPO, and Realme also contributed to the local manufacturing landscape, each delivering hundreds of thousands of units.
