Sindh Labor Minister Shahid Abdul Salam Thehim has said that the government will strictly enforce the prescribed minimum wage and reiterated the administration’s commitment to improving the economy of workers. He pledged to protect the rights of employees, emphasizing the goal of providing security, respect, and a better standard of living.
The Sindh provincial administration has significantly increased the minimum monthly wage for workers, setting it at 40,000 rupees. This historic decision, effective from July 1, 2025, will apply to all industrial and commercial establishments across the province, regardless of registration status.
A notification issued by the Secretary of the Minimum Wage Board also provided details of wages categorized according to skill levels. Semi-skilled employees will receive 41,280 rupees per month, skilled employees 48,910 rupees, and highly skilled employees 50,868 rupees. The public has been given 14 days to submit their feedback to the board’s secretary.
Sindh Labor Secretary Rafiq Qureshi confirmed the 8.1 percent increase, which is equivalent to 192 rupees per hour. The policy emphasizes equal pay for female employees. Legal action will be taken against employers who fail to comply.
