A tree plantation campaign has been launched in Christian cemeteries across the country. In this connection, a tree plantation drive also began in a Christian cemetery in Lyari Town, Karachi, which was appreciated by the Christian community. Led by UC-1 Minority Councilor Haroon Romeo, the project has transformed the burial ground into a serene and green space.
This initiative was made possible thanks to UC Chairman Naveed Bashir Rajput and Vice-Chairperson Zareen Awan, who personally provided the plants.
Romeo explained that cemeteries are the final resting places of the community’s elders, and maintaining their peace and respect is a moral obligation. He stated that trees are a symbol of life, peace, and environmental protection for future generations. Romeo thanked Rajput and Awan for taking prompt action in providing the plants.
This effort aligns with the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to the welfare of the Christian community, environmental protection, and minority rights across the country. Rajput’s provision of resources and personnel ensured the project’s timely completion. Romeo added that tree planting improves the environment and sends a powerful message of conservation.
