Pakistan Convenes Experts To Combat Air Pollution Crisis

The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), in partnership with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC and EC), recently hosted the second Roundtable on Clean Air, aiming to address Pakistan”s worsening air quality.

The gathering brought together representatives from academic institutions, research organizations, and governmental bodies to discuss solutions to the escalating pollution levels. Ms Aisha Moriani, Secretary of the MoCC and EC, delivered a keynote address, stressing the critical need for comprehensive strategies to manage air quality and safeguard environmental well-being.

The discussions centered on three key themes: reviewing feedback from the previous roundtable, improving data exchange procedures, and highlighting organizational proficiency in pollution measurement and evaluation.

Attendees proposed improvements, such as enhancing frameworks for data sharing between institutions, investing in localized networks of sensors, and utilizing AI for real-time, data-driven policy decisions. NUST affirmed its dedication to furthering clean air solutions through research, innovation, and ongoing dialogue.
